SHANGHAI : September 29, 2008 - Sept. 29 - Nissan Motor Co., Japan's third- largest automaker, and a Chinese affiliate began constructing a 1 billion yuan ($146 million) factory to increase sales in the world's second-largest vehicle market.
The new plant, with a capacity of 120,000 vehicles a year, will begin operations in 2010, Kimiyasu Nakamura, president of venture Dongfeng Motor Co., said at a press conference in Zhengzhou today. Zhengzhou Nissan Automobile Co. will also debut at least five new Nissan and Dongfeng brand light-commercial vehicles by 2012, he added.
